Beaver Dam
Whether you visit for a day or stay for a weekend, make
yourself at home in Beaver Dam. This picturesque community, located in south
central Wisconsin on Beaver Dam Lake, is surrounded by rich farmlands.
Beaver Dam is situated just 40 minutes northeast of Madison, 90 minutes
northwest of Milwaukee, 90 minutes south of Appleton, and 2 1/2 hours north
of Chicago. You will find Beaver Dam a flourishing city with a progressive
business and industrial climate. Yet, it maintains its small-town character
and is a great place to enjoy year-round recreation.
Beaver Dam Lake is a 6600 acre lake known for its
excellent game and pan fishing as well as boating and water-skiing. The
city maintains nineteen parks, among which are several with fishing piers
and boat ramps. Picnic facilities for the general public are plentiful, as
well as shoreline areas to enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons.
Seasonal activities abound for Beaver Dam residents,
including two racetracks which are both located east of the city. The Parks
and Recreation Department plans and conducts a comprehensive year-round
program of activities in swimming and tennis instruction, day camps and
playground activities, ice skating rinks, and volleyball, softball and
basketball leagues.
