Forensics
Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades may
participate in forensics. The SKDS forensics team competes against
other middle schools in one or more of several categories. Some
categories involve oral interpretation and/or acting, such as:
Humorous solo acting, serious solo acting, prose, poetry, group
interpretation, and storytelling. Other categories involve public
speaking. Some public speaking categories include: Impromptu
speaking, demonstration, infomercial, moments in history, persuasive and
news reporting.
Joining forensics is a fun way to meet new people, build confidence, and
improve speaking and performing abilities. Skills that are developed in
forensics last a lifetime.
The St. Katharine Drexel forensics team starts
meeting in October. Competitive meets take place on Thursdays,
Fridays, and Saturdays from January through the beginning of March.
Team members do not have to attend every meet; individual schedules are
accommodated. The forensics season ends with the state meet, which is
usually the third Saturday in March.
For more information about forensics, please contact Mrs. Kalscheur or
Ms. Diericks, coaches.
