Catholic Schools Week
Join the celebration! Join the fun. With the onset of Catholic Schools
Week, 2012, we begin our yearlong celebration of 150 years of Catholic
Education in Beaver Dam. We are asking you to share memories of when you
went to school. The sheet is in this week’s Family Folder. You will see
the same request in an upcoming bulletin. Yes, we want to hear from
Grandparents but we want to hear from everyone else as well. We are a
parish school and we want to involve the entire parish in this grand
celebration.
The theme for Catholic Schools Week this year is:
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS~~FAITH. ACADEMICS. SERVICE.
This fits perfectly with our sesquicentennial (150
years) celebration. The theme focuses on three priorities “Catholic
Schools establish that make them stand out from other educational
institutions. Children are taught faith — not just the basics of
Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God. Academics, which
in Catholic Schools are held to very high standards, help each child
reach his or her potential. Service, the giving of one’s time and
effort to help others, is taught both as an expression of faith and good
citizenship.”(NCEA) As a result, Catholic Schools and their
graduates make a significant contribution to American society. We
have been doing just that for the past 150 years. Now it’s time to have
some fun! The School Board will spearhead our celebration. Perhaps
you have an idea that is just waiting to blossom. Don’t keep it under
the proverbial bushel, share it with a board member. Watch the
newsletter, Family Folder and bulletin for more details.
Chili Supper

forget to invite Grandparents!

Cougar's Closet News
Now that everyone is getting settled into the new school year, we would
like to remind you that the Cougar’s Closet is open for business. We are
here to help you with your child’s school clothing needs. You may bring
in any gently used school clothing items that your child has outgrown
including polos, shirts, sweaters/fleece, shorts, skirts and pants to
exchange them for another item that will fit. It’s that easy!
We are located across the hall from the gym, and starting in November, we will be open the first Monday of the month from 8 a.m. until 9
a.m., or by appointment, for the rest of the school year. Look for
reminders in the newsletter.
Finally, there is a need for a couple of new volunteers who could commit
to an hour or two per month to help keep this great school resource
organized and open to all our school families. If you are interested,
please call one of us or stop by Monday, and let us know. We would love
to hear from you!
