At St. Katharine
Drexel School, we understand that some students require a
different style or pace for learning. For these students, we
offer academic assistance in a program entitled the Learning
Zone. The Learning Zone provides help for any student in need.
Learning Zone
assistance is provided by teachers, retired teachers and parent
tutors. Our main focus is to help those students who need a
little extra one-on-one attention to learn at their level as
well as assistance to reach their full potential. Students are
supported in a variety of way. Some receive extra help on a
specific skill or area; some review for an upcoming test; some
read aloud or have something read to them; some are helped in
overcoming a more difficult learning challenge. This resource is
not only for those considered to be at risk but also for those
needing enrichment or an additional challenge because they are
advanced beyond their grade level.
The Learning
Zone is used is to offer services such as remediation,
one-on-one learning, tutoring, and/or an adjusted curriculum. As
a result of these services, we hope to see an increase in
motivation and learning. By improving study and academic skills,
we help students to improve their social skills and build their
self esteem.
