Points System
2008-2009 SKDS
Point System
The following point system has been adopted by Saint Katharine Drexel
School. This system helps us to meet our goals financially and to keep
tuition affordable. More importantly, the points system creates a whole
school effort and encourages our families to get involved in their
children’s education.
Families may earn points in 3 ways:
1. By volunteering
for the Parish and School
2. By selling development raffle tickets
3. By purchasing Scrip
1 point = 1 hour of volunteer time*
1 point = 1 development raffle ticket sold
1 point = $100 of purchased Scrip**
*Volunteer hours must be
performed by the immediate family. Families may not earn points for
any hours associated with the Band Guild or Athletic Association.
**Immediate family must make Scrip purchases. Families may not
receive points for purchases made by grandparents, relatives and
friends.
Each year, points will start accumulating July 1 and will end on June 15
of that current school year. All points start over each year; there is
no carry-over.
*Please note:
Supervisors for each volunteer opportunity may set requirements for
these volunteer hours and have the right to refuse volunteers for not
meeting these requirements. All Volunteer opportunities and hours are
subject to approval by the administration.
The Administration will have the power to exempt families from the
program due to extenuating circumstances. In order to ensure security
and privacy, Scrip coordinators will keep track of all points earned
each month from raffle sales, volunteer time and Scrip purchases.
Quarterly reports will be printed and given to the principal for review
and disbursement to families. Statements for families who have been
exempted from the program will be removed by the principal to maintain
confidentiality.
The points break down like this:

K-8 Point System Requirements

1 child family = 50 points.

2 child family = 65 points.

3 + child family = 75 points.

Unearned Points:
Any point(s) not earned by June 15 will be subject to a fee of $10 per
point. The charge for remaining points will be treated as delinquent
tuition.
Possible Volunteer Hours:
Home and School Board, Home & School Member, Family Carnival
Volunteer, Bowl-a-thon Volunteer, Special Events Volunteer, Donor /
Alumni Committee, Faculty Appreciation, Staff end of year luncheon,
Campbell’s & Tyson Labels committee, Fall dance committee, Culver’s
night, SKDS Apparel Sale committee, Chili Supper Committee, Calling
Committee, Graduation Reception Volunteer, Rummage Sale Volunteer,
Library Aide, Lunch Room Volunteer, Classroom Aide, Tutor, Piggly Wiggly
Receipts Coordinator, Rechek’s Golf Outing Volunteer, Parish Festival
Volunteer, Baptismal class coordinator, Marriage class coordinator,
Catechists, School Board and Committees, Computer Lab Volunteer,
In-School Event Volunteer, Parish Council, Scrip Weekly Volunteer, Scrip
weekend Captain.
