Associate's Degree, University of Wisconsin-Washington County
Bachelor's in Music, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Ms. Lopas began teaching band at SKDS in 2011. This was also her first year of teaching after graduating from UW-Madison. She did her student teaching at Spring Harbor Middle School and Memorial High School in Madison. Ms. Lopas subbed during the 2010-2011 school year in the Madison Metropolitan School District.

Originally from Hartford, Wis., Ms. Lopas enjoys hiking, camping, knitting, and of course, playing the trumpet. The trumpet is her main instrument, and she has been playing since she was in fifth grade.

Ms. Lopas knew since first grade that she wanted to be a teacher, and when she started band in fifth grade, this answered the question of what she wanted to teach. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is working with and inspiring young people to love and enjoy making music.

Words of advice to her students? “Don’t ever stop playing or listening to music. You don’t have to be an orchestral clarinetist for music to have a huge impact on your life after school.”
