Bachelor's in Liberal Studies with an Emphasis in Leadership Development, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
Associate's in Dairy Herd Management

Hello, my name is Janet Zander, but I usually go by Jan. I grew up in Missouri and attended a parochial school very much like SKDS. After high school, I was attending Southeast Missouri State University intending to become a teacher when I got a campus job milking cows for the University Farm. I decided to take a year off from school and got a job on a REAL dairy farm in Wisconsin where I didn’t know a soul. That job was supposed to be for one year and it is 40+ years later and I am still here! I met my husband Steve Zander and decided to stay. Together we farmed on his family farm near Columbus and raised our three children, Ben, Joe and Samantha. We also have eight grandchildren, some of which attend St. Jerome's in Columbus. After we sold our cows, I worked for a neighbor’s woodworking business and then eventually returned to school to finish that degree I had started so long ago. I received a Liberal Studies degree with an Emphasis on Leadership Development from UW-Oshkosh. I also have an Associate’s Degree in Dairy Herd Management.

I subbed for 8 years in the Columbus School District and taught Art at Columbus Elementary School. I have also been a 4-H Leader with Dodge County 4-H for over 30 years. I am the Superintendent of Cloverbuds at the Dodge County Fair. Cloverbuds are the youngest members of 4-H and my Co-Superintendent, Ann Rinzel, and I like to think that we get our Kindergarteners, 1st graders and 2nd graders off to a good start. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, my dogs, and finding new varieties of Hostas. I enjoy reading but never seem to find the time lately!
