Ms. Battenberg
Mrs.
Deborah Battenberg teaches Instrumental Music here at St. Katharine
Drexel School. Prior to coming here, Mrs. Battenberg taught in East
Troy, Wis. for two years and in Solon, IA for two and one-half years.
When asked why she
became a teacher, Mrs. Battenberg said, “I love to work with kids, and I
love to make music and play lots of different instruments.” She shares, “I feel very
lucky that I get to see all my students both in a large group and in a
small group, so I’m able to get to know them personally. I also enjoy
concerts and any sort of performances we do in band because it gives the
kids a chance to show off. It is wonderful to see parents and relatives
being impressed by what their children can do.”
Mrs. Battenberg
lives on a hobby farm outside of Waterloo with her husband, four kids,
five cats and a dog. When she has time, she enjoys doing
triathlons, running, raising poultry, sewing and reading.
Mrs. Battenberg’s
advice for her students: “Practice makes perfect!”
Favorite quotation
from Mrs. Battenberg: “Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the
mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” - Plato
