Mrs. Ellingson
Mrs.
Jennifer Ellingson joined the SKDS teaching staff in 2009 as the seventh
and eighth grade Spanish and Reading teacher.
Originally from Oconomowoc, Wis., Mrs.
Ellingson lives with her husband, Nate, and son, Phoenix. When she is
not teaching, Mrs. Ellingson loves to read, play outside with her son,
and go for walks and bike rides. Her favorite sports are swimming and
volleyball, and she also enjoys football and baseball. She also loves to
draw, paint, scrapbook, take lots and lots of pictures and do stained
glass when she has the time.
When asked why she became a teacher, Mrs. Ellingson said, “I feel that
it is what I am called to do and I want to make a difference in students
lives and help them see the potential they have and see that they can
achieve their dreams if they want them bad enough and are willing to
work for them.”
The favorite part of her job is seeing the little “light bulbs” of
knowledge pop on when a student learns something in class. Her words are
advice for students: “With hard work, planning and determination you can
achieve anything!”
Mrs. Ellingson’s favorite quotations include:
• Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
~ Joseph Addison
• Children are made readers on the laps of their parents. (1994)
~ Emilie Buchwald ~
• To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting.
~ Edmund Burke ~
• A room without books is like a body without a soul.
~ Marcus T. Cicero ~
