Ms. Shaffer
Ms.
Sandy Shaffer has been our Kindergarten teacher at SKDS for 13 years.
Prior to her service at St. Katharine Drexel School, Ms. Shaffer taught
Head Start for 5 years in Minnesota.
Ms. Shaffer was exposed to teaching at a very early age. Her mother was
an elementary school teacher, and she influenced Ms. Shaffer’s decision
to pursue a degree in teaching. Ms. Shaffer says, “I realized how much I
wanted to help and be around children.”
When asked what her favorite thing is about her job, Ms. Shaffer
replies, “I love the children and their enthusiasm for learning. It is
wonderful to see the world through the eyes of a child. The parent
support for Catholic education is also an added bonus.”
Originally from the tiny town of Wabasso, Minnesota (population 678),
Ms. Shaffer now lives in Beaver Dam. She enjoys spending time with her
fiancé Rodney and daughters McKenna (18) and Hanna (15). In her spare
time, Ms. Shaffer likes reading, flower gardening, golfing, exercising,
watching football, and shopping with her daughters.
Ms. Shaffer’s words of advice for students: “Always try your best, be
proud of yourself, and use the talents God has given you in a positive
way.”
Her favorite quotation: “To give anything less than your best is to
sacrifice the Gift.”
