Mrs. Dona Turner joined the SKDS staff in 2011 as our third grade teacher. She attended UW-Madison and Marian University where she obtained her Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence teacher’s license.
Mrs. Turner is originally from the southeastern part of Wisconsin, where she and her six siblings grew up on a dairy farm and attended the nearby Catholic school. She and her husband, Larry have lived in several areas in Wisconsin. Her husband’s relocation brought their family to the Beaver Dam area in 2000. Their two daughters are both SKDS alumni. One is currently working at the University of Minnesota Hospitals as a R and the other is attending UC-Berkeley.
Teaching has always been a part of Mrs. Turner’s life from playing school in the basement of her farm house to substitute teaching while her children were in school. She believes the best part of teaching is watching students succeed at simple tasks as well as more complicated ones and joining in their excitement as they reach these goals.
Outside of school, Mrs. Turner enjoys reading, biking, and camping in our National and State park systems.
Her favorite quotes are:
“Believe you can and you’re Halfway There” Theodore Roosevelt
“Learning is not obtained by chance” Abigail Adams
